About me
I'm a science communicator/educator/science show performer/slime-making-expert... I could keep adding obliques for pages. I've spent a lot of time getting kids and older students excited about science, breaking down stereotypes and making science accessible and fun. Now I'm going back to the lab and learning to be a scientist again by completing a PhD research project in entomology (the study of insects).
Mustard the Dinosaur is my trusty crocheted sidekick, helping me to share my love of science. Check out our citizen science project and do some science with us: The Caterpillar Conundrum Want your own crocheted dinosaur? Head here! |
Why am I writing this blog? |
There's plenty of great of online resources, organisations and programs designed to help students become interested in science. However, I am yet to find something that actually shows kids what it's like to be a scientist on a day-to-day basis. What does a scientist do every day when they get to work? This blog aims to document the journey of a scientist (me!) from the initiation to completion of a research project in a fun and accessible way.

The project |
My research is going to focus on a group of native Australian wasps and their taxonomy (how we catergorise them into species). Mustard the Dinosaur will also post about other research happening in and around my lab.
